Hello, my name is Ruben and I have enjoyed traveling since I was a kid. I was lucky enough to travel at a young age and I have never really stopped. Whether it’s a local off-roading trip or a 5 star hotel across the world, I enjoy the experiences all the same. Now that I have a family of my own I want to pass down the love for travel and adventure to my own child.
I came up with the name Mastering Leisure because I wanted to create a brand that wouldn’t place me in a box. I wanted a name and platform that I can share my knowledge not just on traveling but all my passions such as investing, credit cards, food & drink, and lifestyle and much more. When looking up the definition of leisure I read, “use of free time for enjoyment.” Which means anything could technically be considered leisure because it is doing whatever bings you enjoyment. I thought that’s the perfect word that would define this blog and this brand so here we are Mastering Leisure.
My Mission
This blog is a culmination of things I have learned from my past experiences during my travels. As times are changing we are all learning how to adapt to traveling the world again and I think it is a good idea to share knowledge with one another. I will be sharing my tips and tricks on traveling, financing travel plans, and reviews of places we’ve stayed at. My mission is to share as much information as I can so you (the reader) can have the best travel experience you’ve ever had, and save you as much money possible in the process.
I discovered how to use credit cards and points to fund traveling about 2 years ago. I had all the money saved up for our wedding and I was planning to pay the venue directly with a debit card until I came across a YouTube video talking about credit cards and points. I kept watching video after video on credit cards. I became a little obsessive about the credit card game. I opened a credit card to use for the wedding, and then paid it off with the savings I had and viola I had points to use for travel. Now I’m about 11 cards in and still learning how to take advantage of points to fund our family vacations.
My Vision
My vision for this blog and the entire Mastering Leisure ecosystem is to produce great content that can help everyone achieve their travel, financial, and lifestyle goals. I graduated from Cal State University Fullerton with a BA in Film Production and I will bring a different style to my videos and photography. I love to research and learn about new concepts and ideas that pertain to all things lifestyle, financial, and travel, and this means that I will bring you the latest news and updates. Hopefully as I continue to work on all things Mastering Leisure we are able to grow our platform and audience. At the end of the day my hope is that we can all Master Leisure.
